Did the Virgin Mary Fight a Crusade in the Holy Land? — Part 2

We learn from Ven. Maria de Agreda’s true mystical visions that the demons are terrified of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Only one thing terrifies them more than her presence alone…and you’ll hear about it in today’s story.

Our story today comes to us from the writings of Venerable Maria de Agreda, who was given a vision of the story I’m about to tell you. Ven. Maria is also incorrupt, meaning her body hasn’t deteriorated since she died in 1665.

In part one of this episode, we left off with Our Lady, who knew that all of hell was bent on destroying the early Church. Major decisions were to be made related to the Laws of the Old Covenant, and Our Lady prayed fervently that the bishops would be able to resolve those controversies.

In Jerusalem, Our Lady met with Saints Paul and Barnabas, who shed tears and cast themselves before her feet. And with like humility and reverence, Our Lady asked for their blessing as bishops. Then Saint Paul, who you might remember was a persecutor of the Church before his conversion, received a vision of Our Lady “completely invested with the Divinity.” Sound familiar? This light is similar to the Fatima Apparition in 1917 when Our Lady radiated the Light of God. After recovering from his vision, Saint Paul asked Our Lady’s forgiveness for persecuting the Church. Unsurprisingly, Our Lady responded with nothing but tender mercy.

Then, Pope Saint Peter convoked the First Church Council in Jerusalem. Although typically only the bishops would be present, Saint Peter used his papal authority to assure Our Lady’s presence at the Council. Before discussing the controversies, they would first pray for ten days, then celebrate Holy Mass on the first and tenth days to “dispose their hearts to receive the divine light.” Meanwhile, Our Lady cleaned and decorated the Cenacle, the sight of the first Mass, like a mother preparing a feast for her children.

An amazing thing happened after receiving Holy Communion during Mass on the first day. Everyone saw angels descend, and the Cenacle was “filled with a wonderful light and fragrance.” Meanwhile, Our Lady retired to a place alone where she received mystical experiences with “such hidden mysteries as to move angels to astonishment.” At one point, she was even raised to heaven by angels.

And on her way to heaven, Our Lord wished to show the demons His Mother’s power. He commanded all the demons to come into her presence so that Our Lady could battle them. The demons, however, couldn’t bear the sight of Our Lady and were even more terrified when they saw she carried the Blessed Sacrament within her. She was also enveloped by the Glorious Light of God, just like in the Fatima Apparitions.

Rather than be in the presence of Our Lady, they begged God to send them to hell. But God allowed His Mother that honor. At the instant Our Lady released the demons, they cast themselves into hell, howling in despair and unleashing their anger on the souls of the damned. From that moment, Lucifer and the demons could not come near the Cenacle nor harm those in the Council.

From there, Our Lady entered heaven and remained there for 24 hours, praying for the Council of Jerusalem. As a result of her prayers, each Person of the Blessed Trinity promised to assist the Holy Catholic Church.

And what happened with the Council? After the ten days of deep prayer, the Council discussed the controversies and solutions, some of which you can read about in the Book of Acts. Praise God, all was well, the doctrine of the faith was preserved, and clarifying letters were sent out to the faithful.

Now, there is something extraordinary about this story, and here’s what it is—Our Lady was able to terrorize demons through the worthy reception of Holy Communion. And Our Lady told Sr. Maria de Agreda she wouldn’t be the last to do so.

Much later, Saint Louis de Montfort wrote in True Devotion to Mary that to receive Holy Communion as a Slave of Mary; we must renounce our hearts and ask Our Lady to give us her Heart, which will receive Our Lord with her perfect love on our behalf. That is one practical tip for worthy reception and one of the best ways to win your spiritual warfare.

And with that, I thank you for watching! May God bless you!
