Strength from the Saints and Sacred Scripture
Endurance in the Lenten Journey
Introduction
• Welcome to today’s episode, where we continue our Lenten reflections through the lens of the Roman Mass Missal of 1962 for March 20, 2025.
• As we move deeper into Lent, the Church calls us to perseverance in prayer, fasting, and penance.
• Today’s readings and feast days provide us with inspiration from Sacred Scripture and the lives of the saints.

Epistle: Exodus 32:7-14
"And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 'Go, get thee down: thy people, whom thou hast brought out of the land of Egypt, have sinned. They have quickly strayed from the way which thou hast shown them...'"
Reflection:
• This passage recalls Israel’s infidelity with the golden calf, even after God had miraculously delivered them.
• It highlights the gravity of sin and the necessity of penance.
• Moses, as an intercessor, prefigures Christ’s mediation for our sins.
Gospel: John 7:14-31
"Now about the midst of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple, and taught. And the Jews wondered, saying: 'How doth this man know letters, having never learned?' Jesus answered them, and said: 'My doctrine is not Mine, but His that sent Me...'"
Reflection:
• Jesus faces rejection by the Jews, who question His authority.
• This passage reminds us that true wisdom comes from God, not worldly learning.
• It calls us to recognize Christ’s divine mission and remain faithful despite opposition.

Themes of the Day
1. The Dangers of Spiritual Complacency
o Just as Israel quickly turned away from God, we must guard against spiritual laziness.
o Lent is a time to renew our commitment to God through prayer and penance.
2. The Authority of Christ
o Many rejected Jesus because they failed to recognize the truth.
o We must listen to the voice of Christ, even when it contradicts the world’s wisdom.
3. The Power of Intercession
o Moses interceded for Israel, just as Christ intercedes for us.
o We should turn to Our Lady, St. Joseph, and the saints for guidance in our trials.

Conclusionary Prayer
"Heavenly Father, as we continue our Lenten journey, grant us the strength to persevere in prayer and penance. May we learn from the errors of Israel and remain faithful to Your commandments. Through the intercession of St. Cuthbert and St. Wulfram, may we deepen our love for You and proclaim Your truth with boldness. We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen."
