03/18/2025 U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent: The U.S. welcomes foreign capital from abroad, but we need to screen for bad actors. What we are doing now is doing outbound screening to make sure that our outbound investment doesn't turn around and get used against us. It's up to us to let ordinary Americans know if their money is being used to suppress the Uyghurs, or if it’s being used for Chinese military activities and surveillance opportunities.
