Exploring Abandoned Battery 223

The World War II bunker on Cape May's beach.

This was a few years ago. No idea if it's been sealed back up since, or there could be squatters or druggies inside now. Cape May has been nice so far, except the water not being as clean more recently. Wildwood nearby is partly ghetto.

Probably not haunted. Was finished late in WWII and never saw combat. Gun emplacements were only ever test-fired. They had a range of 9 miles! Was used again for communications relay during Korean War. Someone did spraypaint "Find my grave." Hopefully nobody committed suicide in there.

A bit shaky since I was holding a light with one hand and camera with other. And may have still been a bit wired from two cups of coffee.

4:06 C.W.S. Room (Cold Water Shower? Has a fan in opening high on wall)
(One floor plan has Air Lock and C.W.S as one room)
4:14 Switchboard, Spotting, or Radio Room (has rectangular troughs on end of room)
4:50 + 3:55 (briefly) Raised compartment with octogonal opening from Plotting Room (not on either floor plan)
5:46 + 6:13 Water Cooler Room (lower floor and short opening to room)
Half of Muffler Gallery is behind Water Cooler Room, maybe just a small opening high on wall,
and it's supposed to extend back aside of Power Room. Other half of Muffler Gallery extended jutting out of bulk of bunker but broke off and later two rectangular openings left were sealed.

Rubble is from exterior structures just put in the now broken open entrance before it was sealed.

People must have spent a small fortune on spray paint.

Really do NOT use a lighter to check for flammable gasses. I was just joking around.
