Plot-
Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare's story follows two protagonists, Edward Carnby and Aline Cedrac, who investigate the mysterious Shadow Island after the murder of Carnby's best friend, Charles Fiske.

The game offers two distinct storylines depending on the character you choose:

Edward Carnby's Story focuses on action and combat. Carnby is a paranormal investigator seeking revenge and answers regarding his friend's death. His path involves battling numerous shadowy creatures and uncovering the island's dark secrets.

Aline Cedrac's Story emphasizes puzzle-solving and exploration. Aline is a university professor and expert in ancient languages. She’s drawn to the island due to its links to her research — and a mysterious connection to her own past.

Both characters discover that the island is infested with monstrous beings called Creatures of Darkness, controlled by an ancient evil force. The game's plot weaves together elements of Lovecraftian horror, occult mysteries, and survival challenges. The protagonists must uncover the truth about Shadow Island, its cursed inhabitants, and a powerful artifact known as the Tablets of Light, which can banish the encroaching darkness.
