Dr. Charles "Charlie" Camarda is a retired NASA astronaut and engineer with over 46 years of service, renowned for his contributions to aerospace innovation and education. He began his career at NASA’s Langley Research Center in 1974, specializing in thermal structures for hypersonic vehicles. Selected as an astronaut in 1996, he flew on STS-114, NASA’s "Return to Flight" mission in 2005 following the Columbia disaster, where he tested his own wing repair innovations in orbit. He was a 2017 inductee into the Air and Space Cradle of Aviation Museum’s Hall of Fame, and he is the author of "Mission: Out of Control."
