Devil’s Doorway (1950)

Directed by Anthony Mann. The story follows Lance Poole (Robert Taylor), a Shoshone war hero who returns home after fighting for the Union in the Civil War, only to face racism, betrayal, and legal battles over his land. As prejudice and violence escalate, Lance is forced into a tragic fight for survival.

Devil’s Doorway stands out as an early revisionist Western that critiques America’s treatment of Native Americans while borrowing noir’s bleak, cynical outlook.
