And splashdown, Crew 9 back on Earth.!
Nick, Alex, Butch, Sonny, on behalf of SpaceX, welcome home.!

SpaceX's Crew-9 mission, which involved NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Barry "Butch" Wilmore, culminated with their return to Earth on March 18, 2025, after a nine-month stay at the International Space Station (ISS). Originally, this mission aimed to test Boeing's Starliner capsule in an eight-day flight, but technical problems with the spacecraft's thrusters prevented its use for the return, forcing the astronauts to remain at the ISS much longer than expected.

During their extended stay, Williams and Wilmore carried out various activities, including crucial spacewalks to repair communication systems on the station. The situation raised concerns within the scientific community and the general public. President Donald Trump criticized the Biden administration for the delay in the rescue, accusing it of inaction and prioritizing political interests over the safety of the astronauts.

Finally, SpaceX, led by Elon Musk, and NASA collaborated to carry out the rescue mission, resulting in the successful return of the astronauts to Earth aboard SpaceX's Dragon Freedom capsule, which splashed down off the coast of Florida. This incident highlighted the importance of cooperation between space agencies and private companies, as well as the need for clear protocols in emergency situations in space.
