Are You In A Storm? You're Not Alone.

Are you in the midst of a storm? I want to encourage you today that you're not alone just as the disciples were not alone when they found themselves in the midst of an unexpected storm.

We read in Matthew 8:23-27 that the disciples were crossing the sea when a furious storm came with waves that swept over the boat. Jesus was with them on that boat, yet they were frightened that they were going to drown.

It is so easy to feel overwhelmed with a difficult situation in our life as if we are going to helplessly drown. Yet, Jesus is in that situation with us. He will not allow our boat to be swamped and sink. He promises to carry us through. We only have to seek him, rely on him and place our faith in him.

He tells us in Isaiah 41:10,
"Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

In the midst of trouble, despair, grief, pain, or illness, we may feel that God is distant from us and our situation, but he is right there with us. We read in Psalms 34:18,

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."

We only need to reach for Him through prayer and through reading His Word which is full His everlasting promises.

We read in the previous verse in Psalms 34:17,

"The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles."

We have to hold onto faith in His promises that He will see us through everything, He will not allow our difficulties to overtake us and He has ensured that no hardship will last forever. We read in Lamentations 3:22-25,

[22] Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. [23] They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. [24] I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.” [25] The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him;

So no matter our situation, let us take our eyes off of the crashing waves and redirect our focus onto God who is right there on the boat with us.
