DOGE Congress Hearing LIVE | Chaos Erupts During DOGE Hearing | Elon Musk | US Senate LIVE

A familiar scene has played out over and over in the U.S. House: Republicans, unable to approve federal funding legislation on their own, edge toward a risky government shutdown, until Democrats swoop in with the votes needed to prevent catastrophic disruptions.

House Speaker Mike Johnson has accomplished the seemingly unexpected, keeping his GOP majority in line to pass a bill to keep the government running, convincing even the most staunch conservatives from the Freedom Caucus to come on board.

Top Democrats on the House Judiciary and House Oversight committees have filed a lengthy Freedom of Information Act request questioning whether the Trump administration’s DOGE Service is operating “outside the bounds of federal law.”

Democrats are seeking information of what data DOGE has pulled from the Treasury and taking issue with whether the 100 DOGE workers have been vetted. They also have been complaining that some DOGE employees had Write access (in addition to Read). The problem that remains unaddressed is that Read privileges means they could very well still have the data on their computers - how is that data being used? Reading isnt like a book that you put back on the shelf when you're done with it - it's more like a photocopy situation. What safeguards are in place to control where that data goes? Do we have an active data heist from the government's most valuable data stores? Why are dems so many steps behind that they can't see what is happening/ taking steps to contain risk?

H.Res.127 - Of inquiry requesting the President and directing the Secretary of the Treasury to transmit, respectively, certain documents to the House of Representatives relating to the Department of Government Efficiency's access to the Treasury payment systems and confidential taxpayer information.
