Awaken Biblical Prophecy Commentary – Israel’s Crucial Mistake

Because Israel belongs to God, the land is His to do with as He promised, and the Jewish people are His Chosen Ones. This means that Israel – besides receiving immense blessings from God – also has very serious responsibilities to Him. Whether the majority of the people of Israel believe it or not, they remain under the Mosaic Law. This means that those rules and commandments put forth in the Torah still pertain to Israel’s behavior and accountability to God. When even the secular folks in Israel neglect to adhere to what God has instructed them, there are consequences. We’ve spoken in this forum many times about the consequences of disobedience – whether for Jews as God’s Chosen People, or Christians saved by the grace of Jesus Christ. The fact of sin in this world, and residing in the hearts of every human being, means that stuff happens. Even Christian salvation is not a panacea to erase the results of dumb decisions as to how those affect us.
