Stress Heart Attack

Our autonomic nervous system is constantly monitoring our environment for threats. The ANS has two states: sympathetic (stimulating) and parasympathetic (calming). They work together and are not completely off. The system automatically activates or deactivates based on the information from our environment.

If presented with a threat, stress response hormones are released, and the appropriate fight or flight behavior occurs.

But what if we live in constant life-threatening situations 🤔 with all the demands in our lives? Well, instead of turning off the stress response when the stress is gone, we continue to think about it day and night, month after month. This perpetuates the heightened state. And this, my friends, leads to metabolic dysfunction. We experience low oxygen states among many changes, and guess what? Organs don't do so well without oxygen!
