Carney signals he’s in no rush to speak with Trump after visit to U.K., France

Prime Minister Mark Carney indicated he’s in no rush to discuss the ongoing trade war with U.S. President Donald Trump, stating that such a conversation will happen at the “appropriate time.”

Carney emphasized his focus on strengthening Canada’s economy and sovereignty in response to Trump’s tariff actions, which have raised questions about the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA).

While Carney acknowledged trade tensions, he stressed the importance of a comprehensive bilateral relationship and reaffirming Canada’s resilience, the CBC has reported.

He also announced a new defense partnership with Australia to enhance sovereignty in the Arctic.
