Brendan McMahon, a national and international multi-award-winning singer/songwriter, grew up in Kapunda, near South Australia’s Barossa Valley. His passion for music ignited at 15 after witnessing Jimi Hendrix’s electrifying performance on TV. Soon after, he bought his first guitar and began his musical journey.

Performing in rock cover bands across Adelaide and Victoria, Brendan honed his craft before releasing his debut EP, Picture This, in 1998. His travels to over 60 countries deeply influence his songwriting, weaving rich stories of culture, history, and human connection into his music.

His seventh studio album, Somewhere West of Nowhere (2024), produced six No.1 singles, including I Hear Your Voice, which won multiple awards in Australia and the U.S. That same year, he earned five nominations at the Josie Music Awards at the Grand Ole Opry and secured multiple Australian songwriting accolades.

Currently back in the studio, Brendan is recording his eighth album while celebrating the success of his chart-topping singles Turn Up The Radio and The White Oak Tree. His latest release, Chasing The Girls, is a nostalgic rock anthem inspired by his youth in a small country town.

With a unique storytelling approach and a growing list of accolades, Brendan McMahon continues to make his mark on the Australian and international music scene.

LYRICS:
Chasing The Girls

Ain’t it funny as the years creep by
Remembering from the back of your mind
Things you took for granted now seem so good
Saturday night, at the end of the week
Sitting by the fire watching TV
Childhood memories they all come flooding back

There’s a feeling, that washes over me
A warmth I can almost taste, touch and see

Like pizza on Friday’s, all you can eat
And football on Saturday every week
And hanging with mates, every chance you had

Like chasing the girls in the school yard at lunch
Didn’t know why but it seemed lots of fun
Truth is we were probably to shy to talk to them anyway
Oooh that’s what it was like to be young

Walking miles on the railroad track
Never know when we were coming back
Had no way to tell time, we’d look to the sun
Playing cricket at the back of the pub
Six and out and your innings was done
Trying not to clear that fence, was harder than it looked

Like fishing on weekends down at the creek
We never caught anything other than reeds
We gave it our best but didn’t have much luck

Like searching for snakes out the back in the scrub
Not sure what we’d do if we ever found one
Probably run for our lives and not tell anyone
Oooh that’s what it was like to be young

Like pizza on Friday’s, all you can eat
And football on Saturday every week
And hanging with mates, every chance you had

Like chasing the girls in the school yard at lunch
Didn’t know why but it seemed lots of fun
Truth is we were probably to shy to talk anyway
Oooh that’s what it was like to be young
