Catholics and Protestants are the two largest branches of Christianity. Catholics follow the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, led by the Pope, emphasizing tradition, sacraments, and the authority of the Church. Protestants emerged from the Reformation in the 16th century, rejecting papal authority and emphasizing scripture (sola scriptura) as the sole basis of faith. While both groups share core Christian beliefs, they differ in doctrine, worship practices, and church governance.
