Apatros Review Ep-0139: Jaws 3-D [1983] (Jaws III)

AR-0139: Considering the release of what is now generally considered to be one of the worst AI upscaling jobs on those new-fangled Blackheads [my term for 4K UHD discs], even to the point you can see actual ghouls in the backgrounds of many of the shots, it is timely that I take a look at the infamous 3D sequel of "Jaws" that was the only movie in the franchise technically speaking not actually made by Universal [but close enough], although I'm speaking about official movies here, not Bruno Matteis' legendary bootleg version "Cruel Jaws", which *might* see a review sometime in the future, so keep your shark fins crossed.

Inhabiting a strange position in the Jaws canon [it was semi-de-canonised by Universal with "Jaws: The Revenge", although there really isn't anything to stop you from putting it back into the canon], this movie is just a feature-length advertisement for an aquatic amusement park attraction and nothing more than that, with the Jaws formula not being too tighty-whitey a fit, plus the usual 3D shenanigans going on that diminish the experience. That being said, it isn't exactly terrible, unless you choose to watch the awful Blackhead print.

I will also take the time during the review to explain exactly why it is that EVERY home video print of "Jaws 3-D" looks so shabby, plus I point out an E.T. reference most of you will never even realise was there the whole time [& with the proof to show for it].

My Grade: D+ [Disappointing]
