Once Upon a Time: Democrats Used to Sound Like Trump on Immigration

D.C. (Dist. of Criminals), March 18, 2025 — Once upon a time, the Democratic Party sounded strikingly similar to President Trump on immigration. From Bill Clinton to Barack Obama, top Democrats once advocated for securing the border, cracking down on illegal immigration, and enforcing deportations for criminal aliens. But those stances are long gone, replaced by open-border policies that have fueled record-high illegal crossings and national security concerns.

In past speeches and interviews, leading Democrats voiced strong opposition to illegal immigration:

Bill Clinton (1995): “In the budget I will present to you, we will try to do more to speed the deportation of illegal aliens who are arrested for crimes.”

Hillary Clinton (2003): "I think we gotta have tough conditions, tell people to come out of the shadows. If they committed a crime, deport them, no questions asked.”

Chuck Schumer (2007): “Illegal immigration is wrong.”

Barack Obama (2005): “We simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected, undocumented, unchecked.”

Dianne Feinstein (1994): “To have a situation where 40% of the babies born on Medicaid in California today are born of illegal immigrants creates a very real problem for the state.”

Democrats once stood for strong borders and law enforcement. Now, they enable illegal immigration, sanctuary cities, and policies that put American citizens at risk. The question is—what changed?
