When, in 2021, the Hurtt Locker at the Arlington GOP had ceremoniously “passed” on endorsing a candidate in the “race” for Arlington Public School (APS) Board, in which current APS Chair Mary Kadera would go on, as predicted, to be coronated, soundly defeating a “real joke” and “not a serious option” candidate, Major Mike Webb was reported in the local press to not be singing the blues, and would go on, later that November to press public health officials not only to add SARS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2 to the Select Agents & Toxins List, “a dirty bug” catalogue that enables federal law enforcement to prosecute persons with a known criminal history from storing or transporting agents known to pose a credible risk of presenting a threat of terrorist attack, but also to compel the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) to identify these agents in public law as chimeric viruses, which by definition could only find origin in a laboratory. And now, while Republican gubernatorial candidates are vying to out-Trump the other, Arlington GOP is competing with the war-hardened Arlington Democrats, who hold all the levels of power to identify a candidate who could light a candle against a campaign that burst on the shores of the Potomac like a fireball on a moonless night in January, through blizzard conditions and continues to rage like a wild California fire.

Webb also has two actions currently moving to opening briefs at the Court of Appeals in Richmond, another case of first impression, and raising a challenge to claims of posecutorial discretion, which, by the plain word meaning of the controlling statute does not exist for prosecution of felonies in the Commonwealth, an issue of great concern for civil rights groups that have claimed that felony convictions have stripped their franchise rights. Although not a Republican, or even an attorney, Webb may have the only case of any candidate against Planned Parenthood, as well as the Washington Post, the latter of which has retained the prominent firm of Williams & Connolly to do battle against the candidate who has floated around the periphery of Northern Virginia politics for almost a decade and who causes the words “commando, scorched earth and onslaught to come to mind, whenever the war-hardened Arlington Democcrats are forced to mobilize to drub that pesky independent in another election, which must take some toll on a diagnosed major depressive.
