ℹ️The movie was okay, with some twists and turns, but not worth paying for and not suitable for children or youth.

LGBTQ+ Content:
The movie includes a male homosexual couple, Eli and Patrick, who are part of the supporting cast. They are shown kissing multiple times throughout the film, and their relationship is portrayed as a natural part of the group dynamic.

Sexual Content:
Sexual content is moderate but notable. A brief sex scene is depicted with a man on top of a woman in bed, though it’s not overly explicit. There’s also an attempted rape scene where a married man forcibly kisses a woman and tries to assault her, interrupted by violence. Thumping noises implying sex occur behind a closed door, and there’s some sex-related dialogue.

Bad Language:
Multiple instances of bad language; for example: Dick, Shit, Bitch, Ass, Fuck, etc...

Plot:
Companion is a science fiction thriller about Iris, a seemingly sweet woman, and her boyfriend Josh, who narrates that her happiest moments were meeting him and killing him. They head to a secluded lake house owned by a shady businessman, Sergey, with friends Cat, Eli, and Patrick. What starts as a romantic getaway turns dark when Josh’s manipulation of Iris, revealed to be a customizable AI companion robot, for criminal purposes unleashes chaos. Iris’s unexpected violent acts spiral into a bloody morality tale about lust, greed, and the ethics of treating robots like humans.

Characters:
Iris (Sophie Thatcher): The protagonist, initially presented as a loving girlfriend but revealed as an AI companion robot. Sweet and docile until triggered, she becomes a violent force, embodying the film’s twist. Covered in blood for much of the movie, she’s both victim and avenger.
Josh (Jack Quaid): Iris’s nerdy, manipulative boyfriend with a hidden greedy streak. His narration frames the story, and his criminal scheme unravels the group’s weekend, leading to his downfall.
Sergey (Rupert Friend): A wealthy, shady Russian businessman who owns the lake house.
Kat (Megan Suri): A friend caught in the chaos, with less defined traits beyond her involvement in the group dynamic.
Eli (Harvey Guillen) and Patrick (Lukas Gage): The gay couple, affectionate and supportive, but secondary to the main conflict.
