US Escalates Conflict With Houthis

US has launched airstrikes against Yemen’s Houthis, killed at least 31 people and injured up to 100 more. Yemen's Houthis said that US airstrikes were a 'blatant aggression'. US officials said the airstrikes, which aim to punish Houthis for their attacks against Red Sea shipping, may continue for weeks. The group's leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi said, Yemen's Houthi militants will target US ships in the Red Sea as long as US continues its attacks on Yemen. Al-Houthi's speech came hours after the group spokesperson, Yahya Sarea's statement. Sarea said they targeted US aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman and its warships with ballistic missiles and drones in response to US attacks on Yemen. The US defense secretary said US will keep attacking Houthis until they end attacks on shipping. However, Russia has urged US to halt the strikes, and the UN called for restraint in Yemen and a cessation of all military activities.
