A little known fact is that QR code scams are called "quishing". And it's one of the easiest scams to set up. Cuz the technology behind QR codes is actually surprisingly simple. Understand it, so you can avoid danger.

A Japanese engineer invented QR codes in 1994. But he designed them for internal use in his factory. You seem, he just wanted a way to track car parts with more data than a barcode allowed. And since he thought his idea would save other factories from waste too, he decided to never patent it.

Here's how it works.

First, your camera, finds these large squares. This tells the camera the orientation of the code. Cuz the code always starts from the bottom corner. Black squares are '1s', whites are '0s'.
