Miracle of Prophet Ilyas (AS) Performed miracles to guide the people of Israel back to monotheism. (Surah As-Saffat verses 123-132)

Asslamoalaikum sisters, brothers, friends and elders, Today in this series of videos of miracles and events of prophets and great religious figures, we are going to describe recount a hearttouching miracle and event, subject that Miracle of Prophet Ilyas (A.S.) Performed miracles to guide the people of Israel back to monotheism. (Surah As-Saffat verses 123-132)

Prophet Ilyas (AS), also known as Elijah in biblical traditions, was a messenger of Allah sent to guide the people of **Israel** back to monotheism. During his time, the Israelites had fallen into idol worship, particularly the worship of **Baal**, a false deity associated with fertility and prosperity. Despite receiving divine guidance through previous prophets, many among them had abandoned the worship of Allah and followed the corrupt practices of their rulers. **Surah As-Saffat (verses 123-132)** describes the mission of Prophet Ilyas (AS), emphasizing his unwavering commitment to calling his people back to the worship of the **One True God**. His efforts were accompanied by divine miracles, which served as signs to prove the truth of his message and the power of Allah.

Prophet Ilyas (AS) stood against the widespread corruption and idolatry promoted by the ruling elites. He fearlessly preached the message of **Tawheed (monotheism)**, reminding the people that **Allah alone is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe**. In **Surah As-Saffat (verses 125-126),** Allah quotes his words: *“Do you call upon Baal and forsake the Best of Creators—Allah, your Lord, and the Lord of your forefathers?”* This verse highlights the core of Ilyas’ (AS) mission, which was to challenge the misguided beliefs of his people and bring them back to the worship of Allah.

Despite his sincere efforts, the majority of his people rejected his message and continued their devotion to Baal. The rulers and priests of Baal saw Ilyas (AS) as a threat to their authority and sought to oppose him. However, Allah granted Ilyas (AS) miraculous signs to demonstrate the truth of his message and expose the falsehood of idol worship. Among his greatest miracles was his ability to bring down a **severe drought** upon the land as a punishment for the people's disobedience. The drought lasted for years, leading to famine and suffering, yet the Israelites refused to repent. When the people were desperate and struggling, Ilyas (AS) prayed to Allah, and in response, **rain finally returned**, proving that sustenance and mercy come only from Allah.

Another miracle associated with Prophet Ilyas (AS) was his power to restore life and bring blessings to those who believed in his message. It is said that he once visited the home of a poor widow who had very little food left. As an act of faith, the woman offered her remaining provisions to Ilyas (AS). In return, Allah blessed her household, and her food supply miraculously multiplied, sustaining her and her son for an extended period. This event reinforced the lesson that trust in Allah brings divine provision and blessings.

Despite these miracles, most of the Israelites remained stubborn in their disbelief. Prophet Ilyas (AS) continued preaching, urging them to abandon their false gods and seek forgiveness from Allah. Eventually, a small group of righteous believers accepted his call, as mentioned in **Surah As-Saffat (verses 128-129):** *“But they denied him, so they will certainly be brought for punishment—except for the chosen servants of Allah.”* This verse indicates that while the majority rejected the truth, a few sincere individuals followed Ilyas (AS) and were rewarded for their faith.

His story serves as a powerful reminder of the **struggles faced by prophets** in delivering Allah’s message. Like many other prophets, he endured opposition, threats, and rejection, yet he remained steadfast in his mission. His miracles were clear signs of Allah’s power, yet they did not guarantee the faith of his people. This highlights a crucial lesson: **guidance is in the hands of Allah, and miracles alone do not change hearts unless people are willing to believe.**

Another lesson from the story of Prophet Ilyas (AS) is the importance of **trusting in Allah’s justice and mercy**. Despite facing resistance, he never gave up on calling people to the truth. His miracles, such as ending the drought and bringing blessings to the widow’s home, emphasize that Allah’s mercy is always available to those who sincerely repent and turn to Him. At the same time, the punishment of the disbelievers shows that those who persist in falsehood will face consequences.

The legacy of Prophet Ilyas (AS) continued beyond his lifetime. According to Islamic tradition, he was among the honored prophets who remained close to Allah, and he was later succeeded by **Prophet Al-Yasa (AS)**, who continued his mission. The Quran praises Ilyas (AS) as one of the **righteous and chosen servants of Allah**, confirming his exalted status among the prophets. **Surah As-Saffat (37:130-132)** concludes by saying: *“Peace be upon Ilyas. Indeed, this is how We reward the doers of good. Indeed, he was one of Our believing servants.”* This statement reflects the high honor Allah bestowed upon him, recognizing his unwavering dedication to spreading the message of monotheism.

In conclusion, the miracles of Prophet Ilyas (AS) were powerful signs meant to guide the Israelites back to the worship of Allah. Through divine intervention, he demonstrated Allah’s control over nature, sustenance, and life itself. However, despite witnessing these miracles, most of his people remained lost in disbelief. His story teaches valuable lessons about faith, perseverance, and the consequences of rejecting divine guidance. It also emphasizes that true believers will always be rewarded by Allah, even if they are few in number. The legacy of Prophet Ilyas (AS) continues to inspire those who strive to uphold monotheism and remain steadfast in the face of adversity.

With this, we seek your permission until tomorrow, tomorrow we will describe Miracle of Prophet Al-Yasa (A.S.) Healed the sick and performed miracles similar to those of Prophet Ilyas (A.S.). Allah Hafiz.
