Miracale of Prophet Moses (AS) Spoke directly to Allah SWT on Mount Sinai. (Surah Al-A‘raf verse 143)
Asslamoalaikum sisters, brothers, friends and elders, Today in this series of videos of miracles and events of prophets and great religious figures, we are going to describe recount a hearttouching miracle and event, subject that Miracale of Prophet Moses (AS) Spoke directly to Allah SWT on Mount Sinai. (Surah Al-A‘raf verse 143)
One of the greatest miracles of Prophet Moses (AS) was his direct conversation with Allah (SWT) on **Mount Sinai**, a moment that symbolized the special status of Moses (AS) as a chosen prophet. This extraordinary event is mentioned in **Surah Al-A‘raf (verse 143),** where Allah says: *“And when Moses arrived at Our appointed time and his Lord spoke to him, he said, ‘My Lord, show Yourself to me.’ Allah said, ‘You will not see Me, but look at the mountain; if it remains in place, then you will be able to see Me.’ But when His Lord appeared to the mountain, He rendered it level, and Moses fell unconscious. When he awoke, he said, ‘Glory be to You! I turn to You in repentance, and I am the first of the believers.’”* This miraculous event highlights the power of Allah, the limitations of human perception, and the honored position of Moses (AS) among the prophets.
The story of this divine encounter takes place after the Israelites were liberated from Pharaoh’s oppression and journeyed through the desert. Prophet Moses (AS), as their leader, was responsible for guiding them not only physically but also spiritually. Allah (SWT) commanded him to ascend Mount Sinai to receive divine instructions, including the **Torah**, which contained laws for the Israelites. This meeting between Moses (AS) and Allah (SWT) was unlike any other prophetic revelation, as Moses (AS) was granted the rare honor of hearing Allah’s words directly, without the mediation of Angel Jibreel (AS).
When Moses (AS) reached the appointed place, Allah (SWT) spoke to him, granting him divine knowledge and commandments. This moment was one of immense significance, as no other prophet before or after was given this unique privilege in the same manner. Overwhelmed by the closeness to his Lord, Moses (AS) made a bold request—he asked to see Allah (SWT). This request was not made out of doubt but out of a deep longing and love for Allah. However, Allah (SWT) informed him that human beings, in their worldly existence, cannot bear the sight of His divine essence. Instead, Allah (SWT) directed Moses (AS) to observe the mountain.
In a demonstration of His might, Allah (SWT) manifested a fraction of His presence to the mountain, and instantly, the mountain crumbled to dust. The sheer power of this divine revelation caused Moses (AS) to fall unconscious. When he regained consciousness, he immediately acknowledged the greatness of Allah and repented for making a request beyond human capability. He declared his faith, recognizing that Allah’s wisdom is supreme and that some aspects of divine knowledge are beyond human comprehension.
This miraculous conversation between Moses (AS) and Allah (SWT) carries profound lessons. Firstly, it emphasizes the unique honor given to Moses (AS). In Islamic tradition, he is known as **Kalimullah**, meaning “the one who spoke with Allah.” This title highlights his esteemed status among the prophets. Secondly, the event teaches humility. Even though Moses (AS) was a great prophet, he still recognized his limitations when faced with Allah’s majesty. His immediate repentance shows the proper attitude of a believer—submitting to Allah’s wisdom and acknowledging human limitations.
Furthermore, this miracle serves as a reminder of the absolute greatness of Allah (SWT). The fact that a mountain, a symbol of strength and stability, was reduced to dust upon a mere glimpse of Allah’s manifestation highlights His infinite power. If a mountain could not withstand His presence, then certainly no human can comprehend Him in this life. This reinforces the idea that true faith is about belief in the unseen and trust in Allah’s wisdom without demanding physical proof.
The miracle also underscores the significance of divine guidance. Moses (AS) ascended Mount Sinai to receive the **Torah**, which was meant to guide the Israelites toward righteousness. However, despite witnessing such an awe-inspiring event, many among the Israelites later faltered in their faith, engaging in idolatry by worshipping the **golden calf** during Moses' absence. This shows that miracles alone do not guarantee faith; rather, sincere belief and submission to Allah’s will are what truly sustain a person’s spirituality.
In addition, this event has deep theological implications. It clarifies that while Allah (SWT) is beyond human perception in this world, believers will be granted the ultimate blessing of seeing Him in the afterlife, as mentioned in various Islamic teachings. The desire of Moses (AS) to see Allah (SWT) reflects the purest longing that every believer should have—to seek closeness to their Creator.
In conclusion, the miracle of Prophet Moses (AS) speaking directly to Allah (SWT) on Mount Sinai is one of the most significant events in Islamic history. It highlights the unique honor of Moses (AS), the overwhelming power of Allah (SWT), and the importance of faith and humility. This event teaches believers to trust in Allah’s wisdom, recognize human limitations, and strive for a deeper spiritual connection with Him. It serves as a reminder that true faith is not based on seeing but on believing in the absolute greatness of Allah (SWT), whose presence is beyond human comprehension in this world but will be fully revealed in the Hereafter to those who remain steadfast in their faith.
With this, we seek your permission until tomorrow, tomorrow we will describe Miracal of Prophet Harun (A.S.) Supported Prophet Musa (A.S.) and had eloquent speech as a divine gift. (Surah Taha verses 25-36). Allah Hafiz.
