Miracale of Prophet Moses (AS) Parted the Red Sea to escape Pharaoh and his army. (Surah Ash-Shu‘ara verses 63-66)
Asslamoalaikum sisters, brothers, friends and elders, Today in this series of videos of miracles and events of prophets and great religious figures, we are going to describe recount a hearttouching miracle and event, subject that Miracale of Prophet Moses (AS) Parted the Red Sea to escape Pharaoh and his army. (Surah Ash-Shu‘ara verses 63-66)
One of the greatest miracles of Prophet Moses (AS) was the parting of the Red Sea, a divine event that demonstrated Allah’s supreme power and saved the Children of Israel from Pharaoh and his army. This miraculous event is recorded in Surah Ash-Shu‘ara (63-66), where Allah commanded Moses (AS) to strike the sea with his staff, causing it to split into two towering walls of water, allowing Moses (AS) and his followers to pass safely. This extraordinary moment not only secured the liberation of the Israelites but also marked the ultimate downfall of Pharaoh, who had relentlessly oppressed them.
The story begins with Moses (AS) leading the Israelites out of Egypt after years of slavery under the cruel rule of Pharaoh. Allah had sent Moses (AS) as a prophet to call Pharaoh to monotheism and to demand the release of the Israelites. However, Pharaoh refused and subjected the Israelites to severe hardship. After witnessing many miracles, including the plagues that Allah sent upon Egypt, Pharaoh finally allowed the Israelites to leave. But soon after, he changed his mind and, with his army, pursued them to bring them back into slavery.
As Moses (AS) and his people approached the Red Sea, they found themselves trapped between the vast waters ahead and the rapidly approaching Egyptian army behind them. Fear and panic spread among the Israelites, who thought there was no escape. They cried out to Moses (AS), fearing their imminent capture or death. However, Moses (AS), firm in his faith, reassured them that Allah would guide them to safety. In Surah Ash-Shu‘ara (26:62), Moses (AS) declared with unwavering trust, **“Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me.”**
At that moment, Allah commanded Moses (AS) to strike the sea with his staff. As soon as he did, the Red Sea miraculously parted, forming two enormous walls of water with a dry path through the middle. This was an incredible display of Allah’s power, creating a way for the Israelites to escape. They quickly moved forward, crossing the seabed as the towering walls of water stood firm on either side, shielding them from the Egyptians.
Pharaoh and his army, blinded by arrogance and anger, followed them into the path through the sea. Despite witnessing the miracle, Pharaoh still refused to believe in Allah’s power and saw the parting of the sea as an opportunity to capture Moses (AS) and his followers. However, as soon as the last of the Israelites reached the other side, Allah commanded the waters to crash back together. The raging sea engulfed Pharaoh and his army, drowning them completely. Pharaoh, in his final moments, realized the truth and attempted to declare his belief in Allah, but it was too late. Allah did not accept his repentance because he had rejected faith until the very last moment of his life.
This miraculous event not only freed the Israelites but also demonstrated Allah’s justice. Pharaoh, who had claimed to be a god and mercilessly oppressed the Israelites, met his end in a way that proved his powerlessness against the will of the true Creator. The parting of the Red Sea was a lesson to all who witnessed it and to future generations, showing that Allah supports those who have faith in Him and destroys the arrogant who persist in their oppression.
The miracle of the Red Sea remains a powerful symbol of hope, faith, and divine intervention. It teaches believers that even in the most hopeless situations, Allah can provide a way out. Just as Moses (AS) trusted Allah completely, Muslims are encouraged to place their trust in Him, knowing that His help comes in ways beyond human understanding. The destruction of Pharaoh and his army is also a reminder that no tyrant, no matter how powerful, can stand against the will of Allah. His justice will always prevail, and His mercy will always be with those who believe in Him.
With this, we seek your permission until tomorrow, tomorrow we will describe Miracale of Prophet Moses (AS) His staff struck a rock, bringing forth twelve springs of water for the Israelites. Allah Hafiz.
