After three days of waiting, the officers instruct the people to follow the Ark of the Covenant, carried by the priests of the Levites. They are reminded to keep a respectful distance behind the Ark, as they are about to embark on a journey through unfamiliar territory. This moment is filled with anticipation as the people ready themselves to witness God's miraculous guidance.

Chapter 4: As the Israelites safely cross the Jordan River, the Lord commands Joshua to select twelve men, one from each tribe. They are tasked with taking stones from the riverbed where the priests stood, carrying them to their campsite as a memorial to the miraculous crossing. This undertaking serves to remind future generations of how the Lord dried up the river’s waters, showcasing His immense power and faithfulness. The stones become a testament to God's provision and the faith of His people.

Chapter 5: News of the Israelites' crossing sends fear through the kings of the Amorites and Canaanites. In response to this wavering courage, the Lord directs Joshua to circumcise the new generation of Israelites, reiterating the importance of the covenant between God and His people. This act signifies their commitment and identity as they prepare to conquer the land. After the circumcision and subsequent healing, they celebrate the Passover, partaking of the produce of Canaan, marking a new beginning for the Israelites in this promised land.

As Joshua leads his people forward, themes of faith, courage, and covenant with God resonate throughout these chapters, setting the stage for the Israelites' conquest of Canaan.
