In a video posted to X, Zeldin emphasized that the new measures will "unleash energy dominance," reduce regulatory costs, and empower American innovation while still protecting the environment.

This massive deregulatory shift includes revisiting rules on power plant emissions, oil and gas pollution, coal wastewater, and hazardous pollutants like mercury. Critics argue that the rollbacks will harm the environment, but business groups, including the American Petroleum Institute, have praised the move for reducing burdens on companies and consumers.

Zeldin framed the policy changes as a step towards economic prosperity and energy independence, while maintaining that environmental protection can still be achieved through collaboration and innovation, not restrictive bureaucracy.
