Devin Haney's Bold Move: Taking Floyd Mayweather's Villain Blueprint

In a recent interview with Ring Magazine, Devin Haney explained why he's not focusing on Ryan Garcia. Haney says he doesn't want to look past Jose Ramirez by concentrating on Ryan Garcia.

I promise a victory on May 2nd. I haven't had a victory in a long time now. This is the longest I've gone without a W. I get what Devin is saying. People only remember you for your last fight.

Fighters should fight more often. By taking a year-long break, Devin allowed people to focus only on his last fight. I don't know if the break helped him or hurt him.

It's rumored that Devin suffered a fractured jaw, according to Ryan Garcia. I have no idea whether that's true or not. If Haney needed time to let his body heal, that's understandable.

As long as Devin gets the victory, that's all that matters. He doesn't have to get a knockout. Haney has to look good doing it. The W is important.

But Haney has to win dominantly. If he can win 8 rounds to 4 or 9 rounds to 3, that won't be bad. It will give the fans something to talk about in the lead-up to the Ryan Garcia rematch.

Haney explains that now that he's crossing over to the villain, he will become a massive star just like Floyd Mayweather Jr. "People want to see me lose now. They want to pay to see me lose, so I'm happy.
