Vadodara: A high-speed car crash in Gujarat’s Vadodara has claimed the life of a woman and left several others injured after a drunk driver lost control of his vehicle. The accused, identified as 23-year-old law student Rakshit Ravish Chaurasia from Varanasi, was reportedly driving a black Volkswagen Virtus GT Plus at over 100 km/h when he rammed into multiple two-wheelers in the Karelibagh area.

The impact of the collision proved fatal for Hemali Purav Patel, while others, including Purav Dipakbhai Patel and members of the Shah family, sustained injuries.

Following the crash, Chaurasia exited the vehicle in an intoxicated state and exhibited erratic behavior. Eyewitnesses reported that he shouted phrases like "another round" and repeatedly called out a girl's name, "Nikita," before chanting "Om Namah Shivay." The enraged crowd confronted him before police arrived and took him into custody.

Investigations revealed that the vehicle was registered under Deon Technology Pvt Ltd but belonged to a friend’s family. The police have also arrested Pranshu Chauhan, the car’s owner, as both were suspected to be under the influence at the time of the accident.

The incident underscores the grave dangers of drunk driving and raises concerns over the enforcement of traffic laws. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to determine further legal action.
