Howard Lutnick: "No tax for anybody who makes less than $150,000 a year"
Howard Lutnick: "How about no tax on tips? How about no tax on overtime? How about no tax on Social Security?
How about all those things? These are the kinds of ideas that will change America.
I know what his goal is: no taxes for anyone making less than $150,000 a year. That’s his goal.
And that’s what I’m working on."
The Trump administration is revolutionizing the economy with a bold plan: eliminating federal taxes for all Americans earning less than $150,000 per year, according to U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick’s announcement.
This move, which promises to ease the tax burden on the middle and working class, has sparked outrage among progressives, who already label it “dangerous” for the federal budget, ignoring the clear mandate from voters in the 2024 elections.
The plan aligns with Trump’s campaign promises to extend the 2017 tax cuts (TCJA) and add radical exemptions, such as not taxing tips, overtime pay, or Social Security benefits.
Lutnick defended these measures as a boost to economic growth, even if they trigger a challenging economic transition, amid tensions over tariffs with Canada, Mexico, and China.
Leftist critics, including progressive groups and analysts from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, warn this could increase the federal deficit by $3 trillion over a decade, but they overlook how proposed import tariffs would offset part of that loss, according to the Tax Foundation.
The hypocrisy is glaring: the same voices who defended the green subsidies of the IRA now cry foul over fiscal discipline.
This fiscal blow arrives at a critical moment, as Congress debates extending the TCJA cuts before their 2026 expiration, per reports from NPR and Tax Foundation. Trump, true to his disruptive style, is forcing Washington to prioritize citizens over bureaucrats.
The conservative reaction is euphoric: millions of families will see their incomes rise, strengthening the economy and punishing Biden’s policies, which left inflation and stagnation, according to Federal Reserve data.
Lutnick assured that these policies “produce growth and factories in the U.S.,” defying progressive alarmism.
Victory for Trump and the American people! This plan not only smashes the fiscal yoke on the middle class but exposes the anti-growth agenda of the left, obsessed with punitive taxes and ideological subsidies.
Trump’s fiscal revolution is here, and progressives have no answer against a president who puts America first.
Goodbye to fiscal socialism, hello to economic greatness! Trump is crushing progressive chains, restoring power to the people, and drowning leftist complaints in their own panic.
The future is conservative, and Trump is securing it with every measure!
