Recent reports indicate that during the Biden administration, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) inflated Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrest statistics by counting instances where illegal immigrants were processed and released as arrests, a practice referred to as "cooking the books." This approach allegedly resulted in tens of thousands of cases being misrepresented as enforcement actions, despite no actual detention or deportation occurring. In contrast, under President Trump's administration, ICE reported over 32,000 interior arrests in the first 50 days, with none categorized as pass-through arrests. Notably, these arrests included over 1,150 suspected gang members and 39 individuals suspected of terrorism, marking a significant increase compared to the previous administration's figures.
