Pfizer Paid the Largest Criminal Fine in History in 2009

Pfizer Inc., the world's largest drug maker, paid a record $2.3 billion civil and criminal penalty over unlawful prescription drug promotions, the Justice Department announced Wednesday. (Sept. 2)

Part of the business model now, is to plan for fines and penalties in their accounting so that profits are still guaranteed regardless of harms caused to populations. In fact, harms to populations increases profits as remedies have to then be sold.
