Constitutional Republic ended when Robert E. Lee surrendered at Appomattox Courthouse. The Republican's Reconstruction Amendments transformed what was left of the "Constitutional Republic" into a Democracy. Remember, the United States was formed as a Confederacy with the Declaration of Independence and Articles of Confederation. Both Republicans and Democrats blow smoke up our asses and Washington functions more as a National Government instead of a Federal Government and certainly unlike a Confederation Government.
