Gameplay Part 5 (Finale)

The game is set in the year 2183 CE, 35 years after humans discovered the ruins of an ancient spacefaring race called the Protheans on Mars. With the technology from these ruins, humanity learned the secrets of mass effect physics and element zero, unlocking faster-than-light travel. Humans also discovered the mass relay network that threaded the galaxy, permitting instantaneous passage across thousands of light-years. Humanity began its journey among the stars, encountering various alien races and establishing itself on the galactic stage.

In this playthrough we cover:

The Citadel (Side Quests):

Scan The Keepers (ongoing): Chorban asks Shepard to scan the mysterious Keepers scattered across the Citadel for research purposes.

Negotiator’s Request: A negotiator asks for help securing an illegal weapon deal to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands. Shepard can intervene peacefully or forcefully.

Homecoming: A woman named Samesh Bhatia seeks help retrieving his wife’s body from the Alliance, which is holding it for study. Shepard can either convince the officer to release the body or uphold the Alliance’s decision.

Presidium Prophet: A Hanar preacher is causing a disturbance, and Shepard must decide whether to help him continue preaching or support the C-Sec officer shutting him down.

Family Matters: A Volus merchant is accused of cheating a human customer. Shepard can mediate the dispute or take sides.

Reporter’s Request: Shepard is asked by Emily Wong, a journalist, to investigate corruption on the Citadel and gather evidence against criminals.

The Fan: A human named Conrad Verner, an overly enthusiastic admirer of Shepard, repeatedly approaches them on the Citadel. Initially, he just wants an autograph and a photo, but as Shepard continues encountering him, his admiration becomes more intense.

Our Own Worst Enemy: Charles Saracino of Terra Firma tries to recruit Shepard into supporting his human-supremacist political agenda.

The Finale:

Lockdown: After escaping the Citadel, Shepard and the Normandy crew race to Ilos, arriving just as Saren prepares to use the Conduit. Fighting through Geth, they access an ancient AI called Vigil, which reveals the true purpose of the Mass Relays and the Reapers’ cycle of extermination.

Find the Conduit: Rushing to stop Saren, Shepard pursues him through Ilos, discovering a dormant Mass Relay that leads directly to the Citadel. The team fights through waves of Geth as Saren escapes.

Race Against Time: Final Battle: The Normandy follows Saren to the Citadel, now under attack by Sovereign and the Geth. Shepard battles through the Citadel’s defenses, finally confronting Saren. Depending on Shepard’s choices, Saren may take his own life, or the team is forced to kill him. Meanwhile, the Alliance and the Council’s fleets fight Sovereign in orbit. In the final moment, Shepard must decide to save the Council or let them perish, shaping the future of the galaxy. After Sovereign is defeated, Shepard emerges victorious, but the war against the Reapers is only beginning. The citadel and council are saved and Shepard nominates Anderson to be the new council head of humanity.
