Mike Johnson: "They are planning to vote against this simple bill. They are going to try to shut down the government. Every Democrat in the House will take part in this. That’s what it looks like, and it would be a disgrace if it’s true. I hope some of them have a moment of clarity and do the right thing. But all indications are that they will try to shut down the government.

This is a surprising new stance for Democrats, who have always claimed to be strongly opposed to government shutdowns. I posted a video about an hour ago on social media. I encourage you to watch it. Their own words are there—you don’t have to take our word for it.

Catherine Clark said: “Not only is it irresponsible and deliberately misleading, but it is also a dangerous precedent to threaten a shutdown.” Remember, this wasn’t said last year or years ago. Pramila Jayapal stated: “The tragedy here is all the civilian employees. It’s the workers who are going to suffer.”

AOC said: “It is not normal to hold the paychecks of hundreds of thousands of workers hostage. It is not normal to shut down the government when we don’t get what we want.” I don’t think I’ve ever agreed with her before, but on this, she’s right.

Jerry Nadler said: “The shutdown is really an extremist policy designed to appeal to an extremist base and hold the entire country hostage.” We agree. So they and all their colleagues need to do the right thing.

Democrats have insisted they are fighting for federal workers. Now they will see the truth clearly. You will see one team working to fund the government and make sure we do the right thing. And you will see another group opposing the continuing resolution because they have revealed the truth: they are not for federal workers or anyone else. All the people they once said would be hurt will now be hurt because of their votes.

They are using federal employees as props. They are using Medicaid benefits and Social Security checks as weapons in this matter. The threat of a government shutdown is being used as an attempt to strip power from the President of the United States, who overwhelmingly won the popular vote, the Electoral College, and every key state.

The bottom line is clear: if Democrats in Congress refuse to support this clean continuing resolution, they will be responsible for every soldier who does not receive their paycheck, for every flight delay caused by TSA staffing shortages, and for every negative consequence that results from the government shutdown."
