The fallout from a vicious tropical storm over the weekend is far from over, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese cautioned on Monday.

Parts of Queensland and New South Wales remained inundated with floodwaters as Alfred, a downgraded tropical cyclone, continued to bring wind and heavy rains.

One person was killed and several others injured. Thousands of homes and businesses remained without power on Monday.

The storm reached the Queensland coast Saturday as a “tropical low.” The state capital of Brisbane was spared the brunt of the storm, which was also felt in New South Wales.
