This was the nation’s first consolidated judicial facility.

It housed the Sheriff’s Department, Coroner, District Attorney, Public Defender, and Tax Collector. The 14-story Hall of Justice contained 17 courtrooms for trials and over 750 cells to house inmates.

The Hall of Justice served as the Sheriff’s Headquarters from 1925 to 1994 before it closed its doors after the damage of the Northridge Earthquake. The Hall of Justice was reopened decades later and is still currently used as the Sheriff’s Headquarters, and it also houses the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office
