Gameplay Part 4

The game is set in the year 2183 CE, 35 years after humans discovered the ruins of an ancient spacefaring race called the Protheans on Mars. With the technology from these ruins, humanity learned the secrets of mass effect physics and element zero, unlocking faster-than-light travel. Humans also discovered the mass relay network that threaded the galaxy, permitting instantaneous passage across thousands of light-years. Humanity began its journey among the stars, encountering various alien races and establishing itself on the galactic stage.

In this playthrough we cover:

Virmire:

Landing: Shepard and the team land on Virmire and make contact with Captain Kirrahe, who is leading an STG unit against Saren’s facility. As they plan the assault, tensions rise when Wrex resists the mission, unwilling to destroy the facility that could hold a cure for the genophage. When diplomacy seems to fail, Ashley kills Wrex to maintain the mission and save Shepard.

Assault: Ashley is assigned to accompany Commander Rentola and the Salarian team while Shepard leads the assault. During the mission, Shepard chooses to save Kirrahe and his team, ensuring their survival. They fight through waves of Geth and Saren’s forces, uncovering the terrifying truth behind Saren’s cloning experiments and another Prothean Beacon before setting explosives to destroy the facility. During the final confrontation with Saren and a dramatic battle, he ultimately escapes as Shepard and the survivors of his crew escape on the Normandy.

The Citadel:

The Fourth Estate: Khalisah al-Jilani, a reporter, interviews Shepard. Shepard can handle the situation diplomatically or aggressively.

Grounded: With all leads pointing to Ilos, Shepard is ready to pursue Saren, but the Citadel Council refuses to lift their lockdown on the Normandy, focusing only on immediate defense rather than preventing the Reapers' return.

Meeting Anderson: Trapped, Shepard turns to Captain Anderson, meeting him at Flux to find a way to override the Normandy’s lockdown. Anderson takes the risk of breaking into the Citadel Tower or C-Sec HQ to release the ship. With his help, Shepard regains control of the Normandy and makes a break for Ilos, racing against time to stop Saren and the coming extinction.
