Validators are nodes in blockchain networks, particularly in Proof of Stake (PoS) systems, responsible for verifying and adding new transactions to the blockchain.
They stake their own cryptocurrency as a form of security deposit, proving their commitment to honest participation. Their primary role involves checking the validity of transaction data, ensuring that rules of the network protocol are followed, and creating new blocks.
If validators act maliciously or incorrectly, they risk losing their staked amount through a process called slashing.
In return for their service, validators are rewarded with transaction fees or newly minted tokens, incentivizing them to maintain the network's integrity and security.
