Epistle: 1 Thessalonians 4:1-7
"For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from fornication; that every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honor, not in the passion of lust, like the Gentiles that know not God."
🔹 Reflection:
St. Paul calls us to a life of purity and holiness, reminding us that Lent is a time for cleansing both body and soul. The world often promotes self-indulgence, but we are called to be set apart for God.
During this season, we should ask:
• Am I seeking true spiritual renewal?
• Do I practice self-control in my thoughts, actions, and desires?
• Am I striving for sanctification, as God commands?
Lent is the season of discipline, where we learn to master our passions and become more like Christ.

Gospel: Matthew 17:1-9 (The Transfiguration of Our Lord)
"And His face did shine as the sun: and His garments became white as snow."
🔹 Reflection:
The Transfiguration of Christ on Mount Tabor reveals His divine glory to Peter, James, and John. This moment foreshadows both the Resurrection and the eternal glory promised to those who remain faithful.
Key lessons from this Gospel:
1. A Foretaste of Heaven – Lent is a time of penance, but its purpose is to lead us to the joy of Easter and eternal life.
2. The Call to Listen to Christ – The Father’s voice commands: “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye Him.” Are we truly listening to Christ in our daily lives?
3. Coming Down from the Mountain – Peter wished to remain on Mount Tabor, but Christ led them back down, reminding us that we cannot seek spiritual consolation alone—we must carry our cross and continue the work of salvation.

Traditional Saints & Feast Days (March 9, 2025)
1. St. Frances of Rome (1384–1440) – Patroness of Widows & Laywomen
• A noblewoman who devoted her life to prayer, charity, and service, even after losing her husband and children.
• She founded the Oblates of Mary, a lay religious community.
• She teaches us that holiness is possible in every state of life—whether as a wife, mother, widow, or religious.
2. The Forty Martyrs of Sebaste (†320 A.D.)
• A group of Roman soldiers who refused to renounce their faith, choosing to freeze to death on an icy lake rather than betray Christ.
• One soldier gave in to temptation, but another on the shore witnessed their heavenly reward and took his place, dying as a martyr.
• Their story calls us to persevere in faith, even amid trials and suffering.

Conclusion & Prayer
As we continue our Lenten journey, let us ask for the intercession of St. Frances of Rome and the Forty Holy Martyrs to help us grow in faith, purity, and perseverance.
Let us pray:
"O Lord, as we meditate on the glory of Your Transfiguration, transform our hearts through the discipline of Lent. May we seek purity, holiness, and unwavering trust in Your divine will. Through the intercession of St. Frances of Rome, teach us to serve You in every moment of our lives. Through the example of the Forty Martyrs, strengthen us in faith so that we may endure trials with courage. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen."
Thank you for joining today’s reflection. May God bless you and lead you closer to the light of His glory.
