Tithes & Offerings ~ Part 5
Stewardship

By Pastor Gary Wayne

1 Cor. 6:19-20 “… you are not your own – you were bought at a price, therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s”
Deut. 8:18 "And you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

I am not my own boss – I belong to Christ.
All I am, everything I have, everywhere I go, every activity I engage in should flow from the understanding that I am living out stewardship for God and the pursuit of His heart.

Stewardship = the management of the property of another.

Text: Matthew 25:14-29
Ver.14 “and delivered his goods to them”. Whose goods are they?

Ver. 15 "And to one he gave five talents, - this is not talking about abilities, but money. Greek word = a coin or rather sum of money.

Ver.18 “…hid his lord's money. Who’s money?

Ver. 21 "His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant;
This is what we say we want God to say over us.
This is the only time this phrase is in scripture.
The only time the Bible says this is concerning how we handle money.
The context is in stewarding someone else’s possessions.

Giving my tithe and giving offerings is a spiritual decision, but stewardship doesn’t begin or end with giving money to God in tithes and offerings.
My everyday spending from my checkbook is also a spiritual decision.
God is as concerned what I do with the 90% as what I do with His 10%.

You can’t fake stewardship! Just like you can’t fake spirituality!
If my heart is truly after the Father’s heart, it will show up in my daily stewardship.
