The game is set in the year 2183 CE, 35 years after humans discovered the ruins of an ancient spacefaring race called the Protheans on Mars. With the technology from these ruins, humanity learned the secrets of mass effect physics and element zero, unlocking faster-than-light travel. Humans also discovered the mass relay network that threaded the galaxy, permitting instantaneous passage across thousands of light-years. Humanity began its journey among the stars, encountering various alien races and establishing itself on the galactic stage.

In this playthrough we cover:

Feros:

The Thorian (continued): After confronting Jeong, Shepard heads into the Thorian’s lair beneath Zhu’s Hope. The team battles waves of mind-controlled colonists and Asari clones before confronting the Thorian itself. Shepard defeats the massive plant creature, freeing its victims, including the Asari Shiala, who reveals critical information about the Prothean Cipher — a mental imprint crucial to understanding the visions from the beacon.

Saving The Feros Colony: With the Thorian defeated, Shepard must neutralize any remaining mind-controlled colonists. Non-lethal grenades can be used to spare them, ensuring Zhu’s Hope remains intact. Once the colony is safe, Juliana Baynham and the surviving colonists thank Shepard for saving them.

Noveria:

Geth Interest: Upon arriving at Noveria, Shepard learns that Geth have been sighted around Peak 15, a remote research station.

Leave Port Hanshan: To reach Peak 15, Shepard must navigate Noveria’s corrupt bureaucracy. The administrator, Anoleis, refuses to cooperate, prompting Shepard to seek alternative routes.

Lorik Qui'in: Shepard allies with Lorik Qui'in, a Turian businessman who possesses evidence of Anoleis’ corruption. After retrieving Lorik’s data from his office, Shepard can expose Anoleis, gaining clearance to leave Port Hanshan and head for Peak 15.

Peak 15: After gaining clearance to leave Port Hanshan, Shepard heads to the garage, where they encounter a group of Geth ambushing the area. After eliminating the enemies, Shepard drives the Mako through Noveria's treacherous snow-covered landscape, battling more Geth along the icy mountain roads. The team finally reaches the damaged Peak 15 facility, finding it overrun and in critical condition.

Reconnect Landlines: Upon arriving at Peak 15, Shepard finds the facility in disarray, overrun by Geth and dangerous creatures. Shepard restores the damaged landlines to reestablish communications.

Reactor Repair: The station’s reactor is unstable, forcing Shepard to fight through security mechs and fix the malfunctioning core to prevent a meltdown.

Contamination: Shepard encounters staff quarantined due to a mysterious outbreak. Depending on choices, Shepard can help treat the infected or leave them quarantined.

Rift Station: Shepard arrives at Rift Station, a hub for surviving researchers hiding from the chaos. The team learns that Matriarch Benezia is at the Hot Labs.

Quarantine: The station’s medical wing reveals further casualties and complications tied to Benezia’s arrival.

Hot Labs: Shepard enters the Hot Labs, discovering they are infested with Rachni — a long-extinct species reawakened by Benezia’s forces. Shepard neutralizes the threat to prevent further spread.

Matriarch Benezia: Shepard confronts Matriarch Benezia, who reveals her allegiance to Saren and struggles against his mental control. After an intense battle, Shepard defeats Benezia and kills the Rachni Queen, ensuring the dangerous species remains extinct. Before dying, Benezia warns Shepard about Saren’s search for the Mu Relay and its connection to the Conduit.
