It involves using three separate light sources positioned around the subject, including a key light, fill light, and backlight. The key light provides the primary source of illumination, the fill light softens shadows, and the backlight separates the subject from the background. By adjusting the intensity and placement of each light, a range of lighting effects can be achieved.
