I'm Never Playing Star Wars Squadrons Again

This is it—the final mission of Star Wars: Squadrons, and wow, does this game completely fall apart. With Titan Squadron conveniently written out of existence, the remaining Imperials suddenly become completely incompetent as Vanguard Squadron launches a suicidal frontal assault on a Star Destroyer.

The game mechanics absolutely collapse in this mission. My squadmates refuse to cover me, kill enemies, or provide resupplies/repairs, leaving me to die repeatedly in a frustrating mess of bad AI and broken mechanics. Somehow, we eventually destroy the Star Destroyer, leading to the Rebels’ ridiculous plan—using two blockade runners to tow the Starhawk (which should already be destroyed) into a disintegrating moon to take out the Imperial fleet.

But the nonsense doesn’t stop there. The Empire mindlessly sends wave after wave of useless bombers, and out of nowhere, the supposedly dead Rebel commander magically bursts out of the side of the Starhawk, starfighter completely intact, to help finish them off.

Then comes the worst part: the final escape sequence. You have to navigate a collapsing asteroid field, but if you so much as brush against an asteroid, your engines shut off, causing you to spin out of control and get consumed by the explosion. It’s the most broken and infuriating part of the entire game.

This game had potential, but by the end, the writing, mechanics, and overall design completely fall apart. Watch as I suffer through this frustrating mess of an ending!
