The objective of these last lessons in Genesis is to show from the story of Joseph, particularly in his coming up out of the Pit/prison, the crescendo type/shadow of all Genesis types in the manifesting of the Anti-type/Jesus ‘the Seed of woman and Son of Promise’ (Whose arrival came 2000 years ago, and 4000 years after the prophecy of Genesis 3:15), Who destroyed the works of satan. And that by having mysteriously borne man’s inherent internal sin from Adam by death on the Cross and paid man’s sins’ death penalty in Hades (death meaning ‘separation from God’). Who then was resurrected up by the Father, being the Firstfruits out of the Pit, in newness of life, as a life-giving spirit. What that means is that we redeemed (who are the ‘seed’ of the “life-giving spirit”)… growing in spiritual understanding, should no longer identify with what Scripture refers to as ‘the old man’ within us… but identify with resurrected Jesus, as the One righteous ‘Man,’ Whose sacrifice put redeemed fallen man back into fellowship with the loving, merciful, wise Father. In that Jesus’ personal great offering had God’s eternal purpose in view… that the redeemed in Christ Jesus might be restored in His created image and its potential, which was lost by Adam through the deceiving works of the fallen angel satan.

That image of God in which Adam was made, which has been lost to mankind, was one of selflessness, having no evil self-consciousness or self-centeredness. When Adam ate of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, he lost his God-consciousness and gained self-consciousness. The image he had before the fall was completely God-conscious; it was declared by God as “very good,” but he was not the finished product. He was designed and set in a position to where he could continue to grow in Godlikeness and spiritual maturity, and was flooded with God’s elucidating light. He loved and lovingly developed spiritually and mentally in accordance with both faith and free will. We cannot grow in Godlikeness without expressing faith. Adam had failed to express faith in God’s Word when He chose to eat the fruit of the Tree which his wife Eve gave him to eat. “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” [1st Corinthians 10:13] This is a Scripture that could very easily be placed as a sign above the Judgement Seat of Christ, in that we won’t be able to say that He gave us more than we could take. For whatever we redeemed believers face, we have the ability to overcome.

Nevertheless, although He made Adam fully capable of withstanding the temptation to sin, He knew man would fail, and therefore God “foreordained before the foundation of the world” (1st Peter 1:19-20, Revelation 13:8) through Jesus’ Atonement, ‘the way for man to escape’ the just penalty of a state of eternal separation from God. Yet, because of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection, we can attain unto the fullness of restoring what Adam lost, if we can grasp the Truth of Scripture in our lives and allow the Spirit of God to move us forward in that.

Adam’s sin of rebellion brought ‘death.’ Adam not only died spiritually, but the fall is also when physical death set in. ‘Death’ is completely comprehensible by its explanation in the Bible. Simply put, it meant and means a certain level of ‘separation from God.’ Specifically, separation in… likeness, intimacy, and awareness, which was to a certain degree imparted at Adam’s creation, and breathed into him (spirit/life), which animated his soul and body in the making of him as a three-part being; spirit, soul and body. (1st Thessalonians 5:23) Being a ‘living soul’ having God’s image, and immediately being intelligent, he was instructed in comprehending God’s purpose for His being created; which was to “…Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the Earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over… every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” Though Adam had ‘life/light’ commensurate with his Calling’s purpose, he was created with the potential in loving faith to mature in spiritual wisdom and understanding.

Romans 5 clearly explains every man’s self-centered state of ‘death’ from the moment when we are born into the Earth. We are all born of a woman, as the seed of fallen....
