Finding Balance

We often hear how Martha was too busy serving while Mary was sitting at Jesus’ feet, soaking in His words. But what if we’ve misunderstood Martha’s strength? What if, in reality, she carried a depth of faith that was unshaken, even in crisis?

When Lazarus died, something telling happened. Mary, the one known for extravagant worship, didn’t go to Jesus right away. She stayed behind, overcome with grief.

But Martha? She went straight to Him. She confronted Him, yes, but she followed it up with faith:
👉 "But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask."
👉 "I believe that You are the Messiah, the Son of God, who is to come into the world."

Martha didn’t just serve Jesus—she knew Him. His teachings weren’t just something she listened to; they were planted deep inside her. When tragedy struck, she didn’t crumble. She didn’t withdraw. She stood firm.

Meanwhile, Mary—whom we often celebrate for her devotion—had to be called out by Martha to go see Jesus. Her emotions overwhelmed her, but Martha’s faith anchored her.

Both women were loved by Jesus. Both had testimonies that will be remembered forever. But we must stop seeing Martha as “less spiritual” simply because she was practical.

🔥 Mary was passionate, but Martha was steady and unshaken.
🔥 Mary needed to be near Jesus to stabilize, but Martha carried His truth in her heart no matter where she was.

Jesus’ Bride will have aspects of both: deep worship like Mary, but also steadfast faith and service like Martha.
