Carl Winfield, a P&C Specialist from the Financial Times, reached out to OMG for further insight into “The State Farm Tapes” investigation where a former State Farm VP was caught on hidden camera criticizing LA wildfire victims, blaming their "egos" for building in a desert, and admitting to excluding white candidates from employment, stating, "I’m being biased… away from my own kind [whites]." In the bizarre phone exchange, Winfield attempted to dismiss the significance of Kirkpatrick’s recorded admissions, at one point even stating, “I don’t know what the hell the video does.”

Winfield attempted to imply that OMG selectively targeted State Farm, stating, "You guys are just targeting State Farm," despite the fact that the investigation is part of a broader exposé on the LA wildfires, with multiple companies and organizations under scrutiny. O’Keefe clarified, "I investigate all the things. Well, it's what I do. If you're committing fraud or corruption, I investigate you," emphasizing that his investigative efforts are focused on uncovering corruption and fraud wherever they may occur.

When confronted with the fact that Kirkpatrick openly admitted to racial bias, stating, “I’m being biased... away from my own kind,” Winfield made an effort to deflect the legal and ethical concern. O'Keefe emphasized the authenticity of the footage by pointing out, "You can see the subject's lips moving," adding that the words shown in the video were genuine and not deceptively edited. O'Keefe also noted the Financial Times' questionable methods, saying, "The Financial Times doesn't show subjects' lips moving" adding, "You quote people, often anonymously, often on background, often through hearsay."
