Grandfather Knows Best
Grandfather Knows Best:
Intro to Episode One:
This video fantasy series of 13 Episodes in Season One is a tale of friendship and love. It follows the lives of three young adults who are not just lifelong friends but also a source of strength and support for each other. Despite their different personalities and backgrounds, their bond of caring love transcends their differences.
Although they were friends starting in preschool, they had very different backgrounds and political, religious, and life beliefs and goals.
The first season is a journey of self-discovery and transformation, particularly for Chi (formerly Jenny) and Peter. Lilith's transformation begins at the end of season one, and her quest to find her true self continues into season two. This transformative journey of the characters will keep you engaged and invested in their growth.
At least one of these young adults will undergo a profound transformation, evolving from a naive, grown-up adolescent to a mature, responsible adult and, ultimately, a formidable warrior. Their journey will lead at least one of them to bring peace, love, and justice to our ecocidal, hateful world run by criminals.
Episode one opens up with these three roommates and friends looking for an item to decorate their new apartment. A friend told Chi (Jenny) that something awaited her at the bad end of town. Although Chi feels fine going there, her friends are very uncomfortable. She finds an unusual and magical picture that forever changes their lives and life goals!
The Backstory
Now, let's delve into the lives of the main characters:
Chi (formally Jenny)
Chi is the main character in season one. She is non-political and non-religious. Chi tends towards the spiritualism of her mindful and health-conscious mother, who recognizes the oneness of all things. She doesn't believe or even trust her father, a well-known writer and lawyer who is an atheist, a compulsive liar, an alcoholic, and a prescription drug abuser.
Her mother and father divorced after ten years of fighting almost every day. From seeing her parents' behavior towards each other, she decided at a very young age never to marry or be in an intimate sexual relationship.
Chi has two half-brothers on her father's side. Although she made some effort to connect with them, they made none towards her, and after a few tries and a few more, she gave up. Her father, a lifelong Democrat, was also very cold to her and, at first, even tried to get out of paying child support, claiming Chi was not his.
Her mother, a famous artist, who did not vote or participate in politics, did not allow video games, TV, cell phones, or computers in the house, so Chi grew up without these temptations. She reads a lot, is not fond of driving, and prefers to walk to places than drive there, even if they are miles away; when she was not with her two best friends, Peter and Lilith, she would be happily enjoying nature, whether it was by the ocean in the woods or on top of a mountain, these are the places she feels most at home.
Chi works as a waitress at a local restaurant. Although she is relatively intelligent, she is very trusting and naive. However, at the same time, she hasn't trusted authority ever since she found out that her parents lied about Santa Claus. She has no interest in upward mobility but wants to know the truth about reality, and she is sometimes too truthful.
Chi went to Jolly Holly's Childcare Center, where she met her lifelong friends.
Peter
Peter comes from a wealthy Republican Zionist Jewish family that is devoted to Israel. Peter's family owns businesses in the military industry in both the United States and Israel! Peter has a sister who, after she returned from Birthright, a ten-day free trip to Israel for young Jews, his loving sister Delilah ran away from home, and no one heard from her in the last three years.
Her absence is like an empty place in his heart, and he avoids thinking about the unknowing, unbearable pain of not knowing whether she is alive or dead! Delilah, his little sister, was his best friend, more so than even Chi and Lilith. They were that close, and he is holding a lot of pain inside himself that is eating away at him in ways he is not aware of.
He is brilliant but, for the most part, not very sociable. His smartness has more to do with numbers and money and how they relate to everyday life than it has to do with social skills.
Despite their vast wealth, Peter's parents do not often argue; when they do, it's over money. They pushed Peter to be his best in school, and he graduated at seventeen with a PhD in both business and accounting. Although his parents instilled discipline in Peter, they did it lovingly, in a way in which he wanted to please them. He was always looking for what they had and wanted to marry someone like his mother. He was close to his parents and devoted to Judaism.
He was born with a congenital disability where he has no lips, thus being the target of bullies at school and elsewhere.
His aunt, his father's sister, has a small two-bedroom condo in New York City that she allows them to have for 70% of the taxes and maintenance cost. Peter works as an intern at an accounting firm, and until he is a full accountant, he works for free. Peter designed an economic system for them to pool their money to cover all expenses. Peter's parents push him to be upwardly mobile, and he's doing his best. His income comes mainly from a modest trust fund. Peter's bedroom is the dining room between the two bedrooms in their small two-bedroom apartment.
Lilith
Lilith, raised as the poorest of the three, comes from a working-class family. Her mother works in a toy factory, and her father is a truck driver. Her parents never fought but had lots of affairs and stayed together despite it, and accepted that they loved to cheat on each other. It became a game for them, yet it gave Lilith the wrong message.
Her father, who was a Republican Catholic and converted to an Islamic Democrat, would try and keep his affairs secret and away from Lilith. However, her mother, who was a Baptist Libertarian, was not so cautious. She had men over to the house not only when Lilith was home, but she would have sex in front of her. She did not care if Lilith was there and aware.
Although her mother had some strange sexual habits that, in one way or another, passed on to Lilith, her parents were loving towards her but never spent much time with their only daughter. She longed for attention and learned early on that her sexuality would get her lots of attention, primarily from men.
Unlike Chi, Lilith is dishonest, plays games, and does not always say what she means. She has never been with a man for more than a few days without getting bored with them. Lilith is agnostic and not sure what she believes. Lilith votes according to which man looks better, not what they say or do unless her friends ask her to do otherwise.
Her huge breasts were a blessing and a curse. She got both the attention she wanted, and she was abused. At fifteen, due to her breast size, she was mistaken for being in her 20s; when aggressive men would try to seduce her, she would feel very uncomfortable at first, having a child's mind in what appears to be an adult's body. Some men did not take no for an answer, and she was raped a few times by both friends and family (an uncle and two cousins on her father's side).
She works as an executive assistant and makes much more money than her roommates, but she spends it almost as fast as she makes it. She never lets them know how much money she makes; her boyfriends also give her lots of cash and gifts. Lilith is addicted to both sex and spending money. Another strange addiction of her's that she keeps secret is that she gets very sexually excited when jealous men, especially very possessive men, fight over her, and blood is spilled.
