HB 281 Creates Police Officer Special Class

David gives us the Cliff's Notes on HB 281 by showing us important clips and getting my off the cuff reaction.

This legislation creates a special protected class for police officers by requiring mandatory minimums for violence against police officers.
David testified in favor of amending HB 281 in order to bring balance between the police and the people.

I'm in agreement with KrisAnne Hall that mandatory minimums for a certain group violates the Principle of Equal Justice and is inherently unjust.

***UPDATE*** HB 281 was tabled in committee during their next meeting. We will watching for a new bill that may be presented with slightly different language.
