The 2nd Semi-Final Match of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 was played between New Zealand and South Africa at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore on 5th March, 2025. In this match New Zealand defeated South Africa by 50 runs. In this match New Zealand Captain Mitchell Santner won the toss and opted to bat first.
New Zealand while batting first scored huge total of 362 runs for 6 wickets in 50 overs and gave target of 363 runs to South Africa to win.In reply South Africa could score 312 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 50 overs and lost the match by 50 runs.
New Zealand while batting first started well and lost the first wicket of Will Young at the score of 48 runs in 7.5 overs.Young scored 21 runs.Then Rachin Ravidra with Kane Williamson hammered the bowlers and added record 164 runs for the 2nd wicket. New Zealand lost the 2nd wicket of Rachin Ravindra at the score of 212 runs in 33.3 overs after scoring well complied 108 runs from 101 balls hitting 13 fours and one six.
Kane Williamson also made 102 runs from 94 balls only hitting 10 fours and 2 sixes. Daryl Mitchell made quickfire 49 runs from 37 balls hitting 4 fours and one six.
Tom Latham scored 4 runs and Michael Bracewell made 16 runs. Glenn Philips remained not out on 49 runs from 27 balls hitting 6 fours and one six. Mitchell Santner also remained not out on 2 runs.
Lungi Ngidi bowled superbly and took 3 wickets. Two wickets were taken by Kagiso Rabada.One wicket each went to Wiaan Mulder. New Zealand made huge score of 362 runs for 6 wickets in 50 overs.
South Africa while Chasing target of 363 runs to win lost early wicket of Ryan Rickelton caught by Michael Bracewell of the bowling of Matt Henry after making 17 runs only.Temba Bavuma contributed 56 runs from 71 balls hitting 4 fours and one six.
Russie Van der Dussen was bold by Mitchell Santner after contributing 69 runs from 66 balls hitting 4 fours and 2 sixes. Aiden Markram also added crucial 31 runs from 29 balls hitting 3 fours.
Then David Miller played crucial innings of 100 runs from 67 balls only hitting 10 fours 4 sixes and remained not out. He tried hard to chase the target but was stranded alone with no support from the other end. Lungi Ngidi also remained not out on one run.
South Africa was restricted to 312 runs for the loss of 9 wickets and lost the match by 50 runs and knocked out of the CT-25.
Rachin Ravindra was given the Player of the match award.
New Zealand won by 55 runs and qualified for the Final of Champions Trophy-2025. Now the Final of Champions Trophy 2025 will be played between India and New Zealand in Dubai on 9th March, 2025.
