Apr. 1, 1965 - There was a brawl in tonight’s opening game of the NHL Stanley Cup semifinals between the Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs at the Montreal Forum. Toronto’s Kent Douglas was tossed from the game — which was won by the Canadiens, 3-2 — by referee Vern Buffey with a match penalty and an automatic $100 fine for clubbing Dave Balon with his stick.
